1982 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0 8V (AGG)Im selling my 1982 Volkswagen Jetta, which Ive owned for around five years. Originally a 1.5 automatic, it has undergone numerous modifications and improvements over the years.Engine & DrivetrainThe car now features a 2.0 8V (AGG) engine, thoroughly checked and fitted with new gaskets. Various components have been sandblasted and painted in RAL 7000 grey. The ECU was remapped and the immobiliser deleted by Stefan Baggen, producing 125 hp.The problematic original fuse box has been replaced with a modern CE2 fuse box. The five-speed CHE gearbox has been fully rebuilt and fitted with smaller output flanges to allow standard Golf/Jetta driveshafts. The alternator and starter motor have been refurbished.A large aluminium radiator with two electric fans keeps everything cool. The stainless steel exhaust system features a tubular manifold, centre and rear silencers, and a sporty exhaust note. All CV joints, boots and fuel lines have been replaced. The fuel pump is neatly housed inside the tank.Brakes & SuspensionUpgraded braking system with a Golf Cabriolet brake servo and T4 25.4 mm master cylinder. All brake lines are copper, with braided flexible hoses. The rear axle can be removed without bleeding the brakes.Front: 280 mm Corrado G60 discs with 54 mm Girling calipers.Rear: standard Golf Mk1 GTI discs.Calipers and carriers are painted RAL 7000. New handbrake cables and wheel bearings all round. The car also features a Turtle Tuning front chassis brace and rear strut brace.The suspension consists of an AP lowering kit with lowered front top mounts, giving the car a great stance while remaining practical over speed bumps.Wheels & TyresFour Corrado G60 steel wheels, powder-coated in high-gloss black, fitted with brand-new 185/45 R15 tyres.Bodywork & Engine BayThe battery has been relocated to the boot for a clean engine bay, with a convenient charging/jump-start connection under the parcel shelf.Two years ago, the engine bay was smoothed and repainted. Two brand-new front wings were fitted, and the bonnet and boot lid were repainted inside and out.Recently, all black exterior trim, including bumpers, mirrors, wheel arch trims and window surrounds, was repainted to restore its original appearance.InteriorOriginal interior with black leather seats, complemented by a centre console and Blaupunkt radio with Bluetooth and AUX.OverallIve built this classic to be enjoyable and practical for everyday use, combining the performance of a period GTI with more modern, reliable fuel injection. It drives brilliantly, handles sharply and is quick. No expense has been spared on parts or components.A clean, solid, road-tax-exempt classic Jetta that can outrunand outbrakemany modern cars!I deliberately chose not to restore the entire car, focusing instead on repairing the areas that needed attention. In my experience, this leaves you with a car you can enjoy rather than constantly worry about.The only unfinished job is trimming the boot floor to conceal the battery.
