The Briarwood can be seen as the successor to the XJ Wagoneer, continuing the idea of a more refined and well-equipped Cherokee.It combined the practical and lightweight unibody construction of the Cherokee with additional features such as leather upholstery, wood-grain trim and upgraded interior equipment. Because of its short production period, the Briarwood is today considered one of the rarer factory trims of the XJ generation.Compared to the larger Grand Wagoneer, the Cherokee XJ is easier to use in modern conditions thanks to its lighter construction and more compact dimensions. I imported the car from the United States in 2019 and have been the second private owner since.The car remains very original and unmodified, retaining its factory paint, interior and overall character.It is finished in Hunter Green metallic with beige leather interior, a particularly attractive colour combination that suits the Briarwood trim very well.The Briarwood is well equipped with air conditioning (blows cold), power seats, power windows, power mirrors and cruise control, among other factory features. The rear seat is equipped with a three-point seat belt, which is more practical and safer for children than the traditional lap belt found in many vehicles of this era.Equipped with the 4.0L High Output inline-six, the car drives very well. The engine runs smoothly, the automatic transmission shifts properly and the car brakes well.
