HighlightsHighly original with no modificationsMajor service recently completed including timing belts replacedAll engine oil leaks repairedMatching serial numbersCZ vintage vehicle registration documentThe AppealThe Ferrari 308 GTS is one of the most recognisable Ferraris ever produced - pure automotive poetry from bumper to bumper, with Pininfarina's fluid lines and unmistakable silhouette moulding around one of the marque's most reputed V8 powerplants. Slicked back, proudly carrying pop-up headlights and loaded with charismatic - almost unbeaten - character. To this day, it's cars like this that come to mind when one thinks of the Maranello pony. This particular 1979 example is reportedly a 100% original 308 GTS with no modifications. Acquired by the current keeper in September 2024, the car has benefited from a major service including replacement of the timing belts and repair of all engine oil leaks. The vendor reports that the car now drives very well with stable road holding and the blistering performance you'd expect.001.JPG 13.41 MBHistory and PaperworkFirst registered in 1979Matching serial numbersAcquired by current keeper in September 2024Garaged and stored under coverTechnical inspection not yet completedIndicates 48.237km on a five-figure odometerIMG-20260128-WA0057 RS for Luigi Maugeri.jpg 264.77 KBThe ConditionBodywork appears in good conditionPaintwork shows some wearInterior in good general condition with age-appropriate wearFeatures removable Targa roofThe 308 GTS is beyond a handsome car. Every inch of it has been penned to evoke speed and sleek, subtle rebellion. From the pop-up headlights and swept-back streamlining to the Targa top panels, it's a beautifully considered design that's stood the test of time. This one manages to hold its own very well for its years - the bodywork appears solid and well-kept, benefiting from a history of dry storage, while the paintwork carries only age-commensurate wear. The pop-ups are lifting correctly, the alloys present well and the interior is in very good order throughout.Instruments are clean and legible, the dash is as it should be and the upholstery carries only age-commensurate sag and creasing, evoking a very stylish, attractive patina. 302.JPG 12.41 MBThe Mechanics2.9-litre Tipo F106 AB V8 powerplant5-speed manual transmissionMajor service recently completedTiming belts recently replacedAll engine oil leaks repairedDrives very well with stable road holdingCapable of up to 254km/h, the 308 was a thoroughbred racehorse in its day and continues to impress. This was arguably the golden age of Italian muscle, before regulations began getting in the way of pure performance. The F106 is a beautiful piece of kit, and this one looks in handsome order. The vendor reports that plenty of work has been undertaken in recent years, and that the car is now driving exasctly as it should, with fine road-holding and consistent performance.
