This represented a considerable evolution not only in terms of technology, but also from an aesthetic point of view.The 993 Carrera's front wings were wider and its lines flatter. As a result of the shortened boot lid, the black rubber lining was removed, as on the G model, as on the type 964, where the body joined the front bumper.The rear wings were also wider in shape, stretching in a straighter line towards the rear with the rear lights positioned higher up.The 993 was initially available as a Coupé and Cabriolet with rear-wheel drive. The 1995 model year saw the addition of the all-wheel drive Carrera 4 and 911 turbo versions with multi-disc viscous coupling, and with the 1996/97 model years the Carrera 45, as well as the Carrera S.The Targa model produced from the 1996 model year onwards featured a large, electrically adjustable sunroof in tinted laminated glass for the first time, instead of the folding, retractable roof.
