One of only 860 Continental Coupes produced, this bent window 356 Pre-A Coupe was originally imported in U.S. by Hoffman Motors in New York on March 1955. The purchase price of a new Porsche Continental Coupe was $3,400; by comparison, a fully optioned 1955 Cadillac Series 62 four-door sedan was $3,977 – making the Continental a pricey and elitist item.Currently, according to the Porsche 356 Continental registry less than a hundred are known to still be in existence.Nothing is known about the original purchaser of this Porsche in the United States. Surely it was imported into Italy in 1989. A complete restoration, including engine, braking system, suspension, mechanical, bodywork and interior was completed by the current owner in 2001 with its current light ivory color (5404) and new black leather interior.Actually retains its original components, including brightwork, V bent glass, and trim. The interior is finished with black leather and charcoal square weave carpets, body-colored dash and door caps. An original VDM steering wheel sits ahead of the original VDO instrumentation. The undercarriage is nicely detailed and in very good condition. Gli interni sono rifiniti in pelle nera e tappeti a trama quadrata color antracite, cruscotto e pannelli delle portiere in tinta con la carrozzeria. Un volante VDM originale si trova davanti alla strumentazione VDO originale. Il sottoscocca è ben curato e in ottime condizioni. I cerchi da 15" sono verniciati in tinta con la carrozzeria con coprimozzi cromati "baby moon" e montano pneumatici Vredestein Classic 155 SR15.Meccanicamente è equipaggiata con il motore boxer a quattro cilindri da 1.488 cc (Tipo 546/2) abbinato a un cambio manuale a 4 marce (con numero di serie corrispondente, secondo il Registro Porsche), sospensioni indipendenti su tutte e quattro le ruote e impianto frenante a tamburo su tutte e quattro le ruote.
