"The Cayman Complex" is an expression that was coined early on in motor journalism. A term that briefly describes the little brother complex that affected Porsche's small sports car from the start. The Cayman and its sister car, the Boxster, were seemingly always one or sometimes several clicks down in performance from its big brother, the 911. Which may seem obvious, but the experience many people had was that Porsche themselves held back the Cayman/Boxster mechanically because this mid-engine car with the right engine would, in many people's opinion, be a better sports car than the 911. Porsche's answer was of course the 981 GT4. Perhaps one of the best series-produced Porsches of our time, and with the sequel, the 718, they refined the recipe. This Swedish-sold 718 GT4 is truly everything you could want from a driving machine and balances the fine line between being a track car and also a car that is well suited for active driving on regular roads in a way that really has no equivalent in the market. 420hp is pumped out from the 4 liter block via Porsche's phenomenal PDK box to the rear axle. A recipe that ensures a smile on your face and an adrenaline rush. The rev-loving 4 liter stove also has the good habit of producing beautiful songs with every lap.The black exterior is complemented here with details and sections in gold. A classic color combination but one that is unfortunately rarely seen on Porsches. Over the hood, roof and wing, sections in gold run, which at the back end over the wing blade with black PORSCHE script. A wing blade that, incidentally, sits a little higher than standard thanks to its 'wing-raisers' which not only contribute to better aerodynamics but also a more aggressive appearance. Over the side, the same color theme continues with rims in gold that are combined with a golden stripe at the bottom of the car. Again with PORSCHE script.The interior is one of the best on the market. Especially in this example. Open the door and you are greeted by leather-covered steps with the same contrast stitching as found on the rest of the interior. The full leather interior is nicely framed by the bright contrast stitching and also continues over the steering column. Bucket seats and half-cage just as it should be in a GT4 with options such as sound from BOSE as a nice addition. Once in place, you quickly understand why this driving machine stands head and shoulders above the rest in the segment. Everything falls to hand in a way that only Porsche succeeds in. Nothing unnecessary. No excess.
