Powered by a 1,991cc all-aluminium engine, wrapped in curvy bug-eyed bodywork and offering rear-engine performance that seemed like a whole new language, these cars really brought the Porsche marque into its own, and put Stuttgart on the map as the capital of German sports cars. Today, these early 911s have never been more desirable and garner plenty of attention from enthusiasts.
