186.xxx km on the 1JZ engine I bought the car in September 2020, completely stock. The previous owner had already taken care of the bodywork, repaint, rust repair, welding. From there i took it upon my self to work on the engine side. In January 2021 I bought a 1JZ-GTE VVTi from CBS Racing. What started as “I’ll do the swap over winter” turned into a longer process that ran through the winters of 2021 to 2023. Eventually, the car drove again, and it drove properly.The engine was fully taken apart and refreshed. New water pump, head gasket, ARP head studs, timing belt, valve seals, gaskets. everything except the crankshaft and pistons.
Fuel pump was upgraded to a Walbro and rewired properly. All fluids replaced. The car was tuned at VPR Engineering and made 333 hp and 450 Nm. I’ve kept receipts of everything, including the engine, so registering the swap is straightforward.The car is not currently driving. After doing some wiring work while it was parked in the garage, it stopped starting. Could be something simple, could be ECU safe mode; I haven’t had the time to go through it. Before that, the car drove into the garage under its own power. Rust-wise: I won’t pretend there’s none, that would be a lie but there’s nothing serious, if there is it’s some minor surface oxidation. The car has been fully apart and the chassis is solid, especially for an MA70. The previous owner did proper welding and repairs, and it shows.Electrically, everything works: windows, mirrors, lights, electric lumbar supportl all functioning.
