Aston Martin DBS, 1968 р.в.

This beautiful car was purchased by the present owner in 1997 from Aston Martin specialist Desmond Smail, as a rolling chassis. The engine and gearbox had been removed and probably transferred to a DB5 or DB6, which appeared to be a quite common thing to do at that period of time, the DBS was not very popular by the Aston afficionados in those days.Video of car interior copy link in Youtube : TpI3yLErOO0Video driving the car     youtu. be/ h04nigt36gsVideo walk around the car   youtu. be/ f3E2oPT4jd4Video lower side of the car  youtu. be/ XzXSHjd5CyMThe hand shaped aluminium body was in good condition, the chrome mouldings needed only cleaning and polishing, only the front bumper was and still is in lesser conditionInitial British registration, JOE 3, then transferred to 141 JOE, now it has a Dutch registration.This early DBS with chassis number DBS/ 5047/ R ( i. e the 47th car build) , had had 2 previous British owners and the original colour was “Platinum” ( white)The car was shipped to the Netherlands where the body was stripped to bare metal and the usual corroded parts such as the sills were renewed. Thereafter the car was painted in the Aston Martin colour Tungsten Silver, which suits her very well.Although this car is not a “matching numbers”, the history of the presently fitted engine is at least to say “remarkable”. Via the AMOC an empty engine block and the other parts such as (standard size) crankshaft, cylinder head, liners etc. were found and purchased from various AMOC members. Pistons, bearings and other parts that wear down were purchased new from Riki Cann.This engine has number 400-1581 and when the club register was checked it appeared that another Aston Martin had the same engine number, this car appeared to be the “River Car” , after the James Bond DB5, the best known Aston DB5 in the UK.The presently fitted gear box is a new Tremec T5, with new bell mouth, clutch and prop shaft. i. e it shifts easily and produces no noise. ( This is a complete conversion from P&W engineering UK)Despite the fact that this car is a “Vantage”, i. e with Webber carbs, the owner decided to fit SU’s for better fuel economy. (conversion back to Webber would be simply replacing the carbs and the inlet camshaft)The complete black leather interior and carpets are original and in good condition.The engine bay and bottom of the car have been coated in a silver colour which ( instead of black) makes it a lot easier to see any damage or rust. i. e what you see is what you get.Parts that have been renewed/ converted• High speed starter motor ( original starting motor is still with the car)• Electronic ignition ( original is still with the car) Lead-free Cilinder head conversion• Koni shock dampers aft (original Armstrong shocks & mounting brackets are still with the car)• Complete stainless steel exhaust• 2 wire wheels were renewed since the originals caused too much vibration• Master brake cylinder• All brake callipers provided with new pistons and seals• New SU dual fuel pump• New Pirelli tires• Tremec T5 manual gearbox ( original prop shaft is still with the car)After the registration in the Netherlands in 2014, the car did less than 10. 000 miles and never saw any rain or salt.The car starts, drives and stops excellent and is ready for a test drive.The car is priced at 115.000 Euro and can be inspected in the South of Holland
