A car from a time when engines weren't downsized, but impressed with displacement, running character and personality. This very twelve-cylinder is the answer to every downsizing in this world: confident, silky-smooth and with the rich torque that only a true Double Six can deliver.What makes this E-Type especially appealing is the combination of V12 and manual. For me, that is the most beautiful and desirable pairing of all, because it truly brings out the brutish yet cultivated nature of the engine. The car drives cleanly, the engine revs cleanly when warm, and the gearbox shifts precisely. I’m happy to send a corresponding video on genuine interest.What stands out particularly is that the car still bears its original paint. Precisely that makes it an exceptionally authentic classic. The surface shows a pleasant, natural patina that, upon closer inspection, simply cannot be hidden. If you’re looking for a concours-winning, fully restored candidate, you’re not quite in the right place. But if you’re seeking an honest, unmodified and credible E-Type with real charisma, you’ll recognise its appeal exactly there. In a world full of over-restored vehicles, original substance is a value in itself.It is this authenticity that also makes the Jaguar pleasant to handle. It is not a sterile display piece that makes you nervous just by parking it. Even if I left it on the car park during shopping, I did not have to worry unduly. The car has character, history and a presence that does not need to be groomed to make an impression.Technically, what mattered to me was that the car remains reliable and does what is sensible given its mileage. The last major service was carried out around four years ago; since then only about 1, 200 km have been driven. Now the next maintenance cycle is due; particularly fuel hoses, carburettor adjustment, as well as oil and filter changes should be planned.The Jaguar also features air conditioning, but it is not currently charged. To prevent damage to the system in dry conditions, the belt has been removed as a precaution. The refrigerant was removed during import as part of customs clearance and was not refilled afterwards. For me, that was not a priority since I hardly use air conditioning anyway.Installed is a coil-over suspension, which has the E-Type currently set lower, which suits it visually very well. If needed, the car can also be converted back to its original suspension.All in all, this is not a showy-restored blender, but an honest Jaguar E-Type V12 manual with original charisma, lovely patina and exactly the measure of character that many seek and few find.Trade is possible in principle, with mutual compensation – but of course only in exchange for something truly special on four wheels.
