HighlightsMatching-numbers example with continuous provenance from newHighly desirable early Interceptor with high-compression 6.3-litre V8One of just 1,024 Mk1 InterceptorsKnown early history: originally invoiced to Charles Follett Limited of Mayfair in June 1968Comprehensive recommissioning and cosmetic restoration carried out between 2021 and 2024Extensive paperwork file including the original Jensen Motors invoice, build card and warranty correspondenceThe AppealYou only have to look at a list of people who bought Jensen Interceptors to appreciate just how cool this car was. Princess Anne (when she wasn't driving her Scimitar GTE), Frank Sinatra, Cher, John Bonham, Sir Cliff Richard, Eric Morecambe, Ginger Baker - the list goes on...One of the most visually arresting grand tourers of the late 1960s, the Interceptor's Vignale-penned glasshouse, muscular Chrysler V8 and refined automatic transmission combined Italian styling, American power and British craftsmanship in a way few contemporaries could match.Interceptor aficionados will know this is the one you want: An early Mk1 car with the smaller, high-compression 6.3-litre V8 Chrysler V8.This example, chassis 115/2902, was invoiced new by Jensen Motors to Charles Follett Limited of Mayfair in June 1968 for £3,851 16s, passed through J.D. Barclay Limited of Oxford, and was delivered to its first owner, Robert Moss Limited of Kidlington, in July 1968. It is accompanied by an extensive collection of original paperwork spanning its life from new: the Jensen Motors invoice, build and paint card, guarantee registration postcard, warranty correspondence, dealer letters and early service records all survive. The car spent roughly 18 years in dry, centrally-heated storage from the mid-1990s before being lightly recommissioned and MOT'd in 2014, with only minimal use thereafter.Between 2021 and 2024, the car was subjected to a thorough recommissioning and cosmetic restoration by Malton Coachworks, documented across a substantial run of invoices. The scope of work included a full outer respray, interior re-trimming, centre console re-veneering, bumper rechroming, and wide-ranging mechanical overhaul covering the braking system, power steering rack, fuel system, cooling system and electrical work. Our vendor acquired the Jensen approximately two years ago from Classic & Sportscar Centre, Malton. They have used it very sparingly due to ill health, so now it's time for a new custodian to enjoy this superlative GT.Finished in white with black trim and fitted with power-assisted steering and an automatic gearbox, this is a well-documented, matching-numbers MkI Interceptor with known history from new and a considerable body of recent work behind it.image.png 1.32 MBKey InformationMileage: approximately 97,586 miles (indicated)Country of registration: United KingdomMOT status: expired MOT/road tax exemptTechnical specs: 6.3-litre Chrysler V8, three-speed automatic gearboxPaperwork: original Jensen Motors invoice, build/paint card, guarantee registration card, warranty correspondence, dealer letters, V5C registration documents and Malton Coachworks invoices (2021–2024)image.png 1.05 MBThe DetailComprehensive outer respray in white carried out in 2021Interior re-trimmed in 2021 including connolising and seat foam repairCentre console re-veneered in 2021Bonnet and slam panel repaired and welded in 2021New radiator core, battery and fuel filter fitted in 2021New brake master cylinder, servo and rear callipers fitted in 2023New fuel pump and sender unit fitted in 2023Power steering rack removed and rebuilt by a specialist in 2023New door lock assembly and drive belt fitted in 2023Wiring repairs carried out in 2023Bumpers rechromed in 2024DAB radio with reversing camera installed in 2024Rewiring behind the dashboard carried out in 2024Carburettor and throttle adjustments made in 2024Gearbox oil changed in 2024Rocker cover gaskets, exhaust gaskets, washer and breather hoses replaced in 2024Bonnet catch repaired in 2024Now showing some patina throughout, including the emergence of some corrosion, which can be studied in the photographsThe vendor has not driven the car extensively during their ownership due to their health; bidders should anticipate some servicing/recommissioningimage.png 1.46 MBBEFORE YOU BUY This sale is subject to the Car & Classic Terms and Conditions.
