The 964 RS is one of Porsche's most iconic models. Originally presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1991 as a high-performance version of the 964 Carrera 2. During the development of the RS model, Porsche focused heavily on weight reduction, which was evident in the absence of a rear seat, power windows, and air conditioning. A lighter battery, thinner carpets, less sound insulation, a lighter flywheel, an aluminum hood, and lighter bucket seats were also installed. The material of the wheels was magnesium instead of aluminum to reduce the unsprung and rotating weight.The car's chassis, brakes, and engine were also reworked, resulting in a vehicle very similar to the cars in the Carrera Cup racing series.
