De origineel Nederlands geleverde, elegante 4-zitter kent een uitzonderlijke historie met slechts drie eigenaren en is voorzien van de perfecte aandrijflijn: een M30B32 zes-cilinder lijnmotor uit de fameuze 3.0 CSL, die excelleert in de hoge toerentallen, veel comfort biedt en het kenmerkende 'Freude am Fähren'-gevoel creëert. Het smetteloze lakwerk, recent gerenoveerde interieur, de aantoonbare onderhoudshistorie en het zeldzame karakter maakt dat deze klassieke Coupé bovenaan menig wishlist van BMW-liefhebbers prijkt en nog relatief betaalbaar is. In 2021 heeft Auto Review een uitgebreide reportage over dit exemplaar geschreven, waarbij het de schrik van de Autobahn werd genoemd: de 6-Serie boezemde angst in, met zijn haaiachtige overbeet en priemende ogen. Nu ziet men de vroege E24-generatie echter als fijngevoelig en stijlvol, met veel fraaie elementen als de Hofmeister-knik in de C-stijlen en bescheiden nieren.Het design van de E24 weerspiegelde de ambitie van BMW om te kunnen wedijveren met Mercedes-Benz. De eerste jaren ['76/77] werd de assemblage van de E24 6-Serie's uitbesteed aan Karmann in West-Duitsland; roestvorming bleek nadien een relevant aandachtspunt. Bij dit exemplaar zijn de voorschermen en deuren vervangen; het geheel is nu roestvrij, de lakwaardes zijn constant en de carrosserie / onderzijde zijn hard. De Arktis blauwe kleur, in combinatie met chromen sierlijsten, originele 14" wielen en lichtblauwe kentekenplaten [slechts twee jaar geleverd, vanaf 1978 werd het geel], laat de lijnen en details optimaal tot hun recht komen. BMW nam afscheid van de minimalistische 60's cockpits van de E9-generatie en schroefde hier een zakelijk, modern dashboard in, met een middenconsole die sterk naar de bestuurder toe is gericht. Frivool detail is de BMW Active Check Control links naast het grote stuurwiel, waarbij men een testknop kan drukken en de auto een zelfdiagnose uitvoert. Onderhuids is de minstens zo’n schoonheid: de 3,2 liter 6-in-lijn beschikt over brandstofinjectie, levert 200pk en 285Nm koppel op de achterwielen en is gekoppeld aan een handgeschakelde 4-bak. Hard werken is hier niet van toepassing; de nieuw beklede stoelen bieden veel steun, de cabine is ruim en deze 'Sechser' is uitermate geschikt voor lange afstanden. De zeldzame airconditioning functioneert goed en zorgt voor een frisse bries, terwijl de analoge klokken en -knoppen nostalgische gevoelens doen opborrelen. Genieten! Dat moet het ongetwijfeld ook zijn geweest voor de eerste zakelijke eigenaar [architect] die deze BMW in mei 1977 in Den Haag kocht en er in 1,5 jaar tijd ruim 30.000km mee reed. BMW-specialist Hans Gordijn zag zijn kans schoon en kocht de 633 CSi in november 1978 en hield hem aantoonbaar tot juli 2020 [!] in eigen bezit. Uiteraard stond de auto daarbij altijd binnen gestald, kreeg hij tijdig alle benodigde service en heeft hij de tand des tijds uitermate goed doorstaan met behoud van originaliteit. Het afgestempelde onderhoudsboekje, de originele brochure, handleidingen, gereedschapskit [compleet], het volwaardige reservewiel, logische NAP-rapport en drie sleutels [met twee start-onderbrekers van het alarm] zijn aanwezig. Sinds 2020 heeft een liefhebber er veel aandacht aan besteed; we treffen voor ruim € 8.000,- facturen in de documentatie, waarbij de meest relevante zaken nieuwe Michelin-banden, schokdempers achter, vering, diverse rubbers, pakkingen, lager, keerringen en [brandstof]slangen zijn. Los van de eerdere restauratie is de lak in 2020 professioneel behandeld door een detailer en werd regulier onderhoud tijdig en veelal preventief uitgevoerd. Voor zover wij het kunnen beoordelen functioneert alles naar behoren, rijdt de BMW fantastisch en zijn er geen mankementen of opmerkingen aangaande de conditie.
